Hey there! Welcome to tofu turtle, my personal website where I dump basically everything I’ve ever done for public consumption. (Mind the dust as I revive this website from its slumber.)
Who are you?
My name is Tracy, and what I am or do changes depending on who you ask.
I’ve had experience doing everything from software development to food service to political campaigns, giving me a rather eclectic hat rack. In my most technically-involved role, I was a quality assurance and project engineer for a seed-stage startup launching its first SaaS product, helping the project manager wrangle a team of four developers. I’ve developed in a variety of languages, but I’m most comfortable in Python and JavaScript.
I grew up in San Francisco and did my undergrad at the very-far-away University of California, Berkeley. I have a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science, focusing in linguistics and minoring in Japanese. I’m currently working on a Master in Library and Information Science degree from San José State University. My primary professional and research interests lie in government documents, information accessibility, law librarianship, and data analysis.
In the before times, I had a side hustle as a lindy hop DJ and was on the organizing team for two East Bay lindy hop venues, the Breakaway and the Dancers’ Den. I love community building, and some of my work for both organizations involved making events more accessible. I’m currently in hiatus from lindy hop activities due to the pandemic and grad school responsibilities.
What the heck’s a “tofu turtle” anyway?
Tofu is my favourite food and turtles are my favourite animal. My name is laughably common, so domain names containing tracy
or tracylee
are either prohibitively expensive or available on CCTLDs that I ethically don’t want to use. tofuturtle.com
avoids both problems.
